The Height of Fashion

Matching your food to your outfit. That's what's in this season at the Goodhome, where Ben models a handsome knit top and his choice of egg, specially picked to coordinate with his outfit. (His original choice was a complementary blue, but his sister 86d that choice).

I think it looks lovely on the pink Fiestaware plate. Blue just wouldn't have looked as good.

Good Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and it was a good one. Marty was able to get me The Art of Embroidery, which is full of wonderful photos and inspiration (I have a whole new direction for the spider quilt I was planning).

And there was good cake for all (from Nigella Lawson's "Feasts" book, the chocolate espresso cake. I added a chocolate ganache-like drizzle and some confectioner's spangles for fun.

Full view.

Hey, who ate a slice already!? (Marty, that's who. But I gave it to him, so can't complain :)

Good Lasagne

The Schwan delivery truck came by yesterday and brought us Mediterranean Vegetable blend. Rather than put it in the lasagne (wouldn't that have been good? but no one else here but me would've thought so), I made a bed of a serving and put the lasagne on top. Lileks-esque photography aside, it really did taste good. And this lasagne baked up nice and thick, I am not sure why. Maybe because I used the oven ready noodles instead of the usual pre-boiled ones.

GoodBlintz

From Nigella Lawson's "How to be a Domestic Goddess", I bring you, THE BLINTZ:

Tasty in the pan, but just wait:

Decked out in a little Fiestaware bowl, with its dressing of blueberry sauce and just a dollop of sour cream. Great breakfast on a semi-snowy April morning (29 degrees out and a skiff of snow on the rooftops).
